Dear members,
The PECERA Seventh Annual Conference in Seoul, July 27-29 concluded successfully. Over 400 participants from both overseas and Korea attended the event. A total of 264 papers, in forms of poster, paper, roundtable and young scholar presentations, were delivered in the 2 1/2-day conference.
To share with our members what we learned from the conference, PECERA (Hong Kong) will be holding an Annual Meeting (Report Back Session) from 9:30am to 12:30pm on December 2, 2006 (Saturday). The venue is Lecture Theatre (Room 032), the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Lee Wai Lee), 30 Renfrew Road, Kowloon Tong (see map attached). We cordially invite you, your colleagues and interested parties to attend and share the fruits of the PECERA Seventh Annual Conference.
One of PECERA (Hong Kong)'s objectives is to invite different professionals to join hands for the benefit of young children. In our first Annual Meeting, we have invited renowned architect Mr. Aaron Tan to be the guest speaker and give an address on the topic "Building a Creative Campus for Learning". Our daily lives are closely related to architecture and design. Learning about how to make the best use of space and design can improve our lives, make it more comfortable and be beneficial to the healthy growth and effective learning of the children in early childhood education settings. This is especially true in Hong Kong where space is so scarce that we all strive to achieve an optimal learning environment.
Mr. Tan received his master of architecture from HarvardUniversity. He heads different types of projects across Asia, among which are many award-winning ones. Academically, Mr. Tan completed a theoretical research project on the KowloonWalledCity, which he started in Harvard. Part of the research has been published in various international journals, and has been exhibited in several international Biennales. As an active participant in the urban development of Asian cities, Mr. Tan has given public lectures on the subject in Asia and Europe. I trust that his address on December 2 will be as insightful and interesting as ever.
Admission to members is free. Non-members will be charged $100 each to cover the administrative costs involved. We also take this opportunity to invite you to enroll as a member and help us build a larger and united community for the benefit of the next generation in Hong Kong.
